Optimist Train at Higginsville Country Fair
The Odessa Optimist Train is G-12 built by Miniature Railroad Company in Rensselaer IN. Nearly 1500 12 inch gauge trains were built to be carnival rides. Only a handful are still in operation. The train was purchased from the Hardin MO Optimist Club in July 1978. The train is currently powered by an eight-horsepower Honda gas engine. The four passenger car can hold up to nineteen children for a ride around the tracks.
